I'm a neuroscientist and an electrophysiologist, with a focus in molecular and cellular neurobiology.

My goal is to understand the interplay between neuronal activity and gene expression, and how it is affected by disease in the retina and in the brain.

Jared graduated from the University at Buffalo with a B.S. in Biological Sciences concentration in Neuroscience, a minor in Business Management, and an M.E. in Chemical Engineering following a course focus of Biotechnology.
Dr. Leonor Afrima
Postdoctoral Associate
Leonor holds a B.S. in Animal Sciences, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Bio-Medical Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition, she was a Research Assistant at the Weizmann Institute of Science and an R&D Researcher at the Phibro Animal Health Corporation.
Dr. Yusof Gusti
Postdoctoral Associate
Yusof holds a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Technical Anatomy and Histology from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Dublin City University. He was previously a postdoc in the Department of Surgery at URMC.
Dr. Soumaya Belhadj
Postdoctoral Associate
Soumaya has a B.S. in Cell Biology and Physiology from Universite Lille 1, in Lille, France; and a M.S. in Integrative Biology from Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, in Paris. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Tubingen in Germany and a first postdoctoral experience at the University of Rochester Center for Visual Science.
